A payload map set in a desert shipping facility. With this map, before working on the map itself I decided on some visual elements and design elements that would help dictate the spaces. Most of this resulted in heavy use of tight catwalks and high ledges. With the final objective, I knew I wanted the bomb to be placed inside of a rocket and lowered down before detonating in all its glory.
Fences are also often used sparingly in Team Fortress 2 maps, often only to delineate the edge of the playspace. Before creating this map I knew that I wanted to experiment using them more frequently in gameplay spaces to give players more information on the other team's movement, without allowing frustrating sightlines (often dominated by snipers) to be present.
